Straight answers
Does Quota Voice send my audio to the cloud?
No. Dictation is Whisper running locally on your machine — the audio never leaves your computer. The phone remote uses an end-to-end encrypted relay, so there’s no server that can read your stuff either.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts anywhere in Quota. Download it and use it — a license is a key you paste in once, not a login.
What happens after the 30-day trial?
Quota Voice stops working until you enter a license key. Nothing is deleted — your transcripts, dictionary, and settings are all still there, and they come straight back when you activate. The menu bar shows how many days are left the whole time, so it never sneaks up on you.
Does my license need the internet to work?
No. Your key is signed with Ed25519 and checked entirely on your machine. Quota Voice never phones home to validate it, so it keeps working on a plane, in a basement studio, or ten years from now if this site is gone.
Is it a subscription?
No. $79 once, and that version is yours to keep — no renewal, no expiry, no “your license lapsed” email.
How long can I dictate?
As long as you want. Tap the key, talk, tap it again when you’re done. There are no time limits.
