No Account Needed
Every other “app hub” out there makes you create an account before you can do anything — email, password, the works. Then they’ve got a login to phish, a database with your name in it, and one more thing that can get breached. Quota doesn’t work that way, and it never will.
You buy an app, you get a license, you paste it in, it runs. No sign-up, no password to forget, no account to hack. That’s the whole thing.
How you own your license without logging into anything
- Your key is tied to the email you bought with. Paste it into the app once and it’s activated — on your machine, offline, no phone-home required to keep working.
- The key is generated from your purchase, not stored in some database we could lose. It’s math — which means it can always be re-built from scratch and it’s never “gone for good.”
- New computer, wiped drive, deleted the email? Doesn’t matter. Enter your purchase email at Find My License and everything tied to it comes right back — keys and fresh download links.
What we never have
- No account. No password. Nothing to log into, nothing to leak.
- No database of “you.” We don’t keep a profile, a history, or a running list of what you do inside the apps.
- Your work stays on your machine. Stems, chops, projects, recordings — none of it touches our servers.
- We never see your card. Paddle, our Merchant of Record, handles the payment and keeps the receipt. We only ever get the email to send your license to.
What does leave your machine — all of it
“No account” is easy to say and easy to fudge, so here is the complete list. Nothing else in any Quota app makes a network request.
- An update check, when an app starts. It downloads one small public file listing the current versions. It sends nothing about you, your machine, or your work — it’s the same request your browser would make for any file.
- Model downloads, once. Quota Stems fetches its separation model the first time you separate a song; Quota DS fetches a Whisper model the first time you pick one. After that they live on your disk and are never fetched again.
- Downloads you asked for. Installing an app from Quota HQ, or importing audio from a URL in Stems.
- Only if you press the button: “Activate this machine” in Quota HQ. That sends your license key and a one-way hash of your machine’s hardware IDs, so one key can’t be posted publicly and used by a thousand people. It is never sent automatically, and the apps themselves never call it — your license is verified with math on your own computer, which is exactly why it keeps working with no internet at all.
“Isn’t no-account less secure?”
It’s the opposite. There’s no login to phish, no password you reused somewhere else, no account database sitting there to be breached. But it’s a fair question, so here’s exactly what protects your license:
- Recovery only ever sends to the purchase email. The Find My License page can’t be pointed anywhere else — type any address you want, the keys land in that inbox and nowhere else. Knowing someone’s email gets you nothing.
- Moving a license to a new address is never automatic. If you genuinely lost access to your purchase email, a human re-issue takes proof only the real buyer has — your Paddle receipt or order number, checked against the actual purchase record. An email address by itself is never enough.
- Your key can’t be taken from you. Because it’s built from your purchase, the real owner’s key keeps working no matter what anyone else does. There is no “lock the original owner out” move.
Lost your key?
Head to Find My License, enter the email you bought with, and every license tied to it is on its way back to you. If you’ve lost access to that email entirely, write support@getquota.app from your new address with your Paddle receipt or order number and we’ll verify it and re-issue to you directly.
